ASUS has expanded its 27 inch OLED gaming monitor lineup with the ROG Strix OLED XG27ACDMSR, a new QHD model that combines a 320Hz refresh rate with a Tandem QD OLED panel.
The monitor uses a 26.5 inch display with a resolution of 2560 × 1440 and is positioned above the earlier XG27ACDMS, which uses a 280Hz QD OLED panel.
The newer model increases refresh rate, typical brightness, and peak HDR brightness while also introducing a new protective surface designed to improve durability and black levels in brighter rooms.
ASUS has not yet announced pricing or a release date.
320Hz refresh rate and higher brightness
The biggest upgrade is the move from 280Hz to 320Hz.
The XG27ACDMSR also raises typical brightness from 250 nits on the earlier model to 300 nits. Peak HDR brightness increases from up to 1,000 nits to as much as 1,300 nits.

The 0.03ms grey to grey response time is typical of modern OLED gaming displays and should suit competitive games where both low latency and high refresh rates matter.
BlackShield aims to improve durability and contrast
ASUS is also introducing what it calls BlackShield film on the panel.
The company claims the coating offers 2.5 times better scratch resistance than its previous QD OLED surfaces.
It is also said to improve perceived black levels by up to 40 percent in bright environments.
This addresses one of the common limitations of QD OLED panels. Strong ambient light can make blacks appear less deep compared with how the same panel looks in a darker room.
The new surface treatment is intended to reduce that effect while also making the display more resistant to physical damage.
The claims are based on ASUS testing, so real world differences will depend on lighting conditions and how the monitor is used.
OLED Care Pro adds automatic protection
The XG27ACDMSR includes ASUS OLED Care Pro features designed to reduce the risk of image retention.
One of the more notable functions is the Neo Proximity Sensor.
The sensor can detect when you leave your desk and automatically switch the display to a black image. Once you return, the monitor can resume normal operation.
That reduces the amount of time static desktop elements remain visible while nobody is using the system.
OLED Care Pro also sits alongside the usual protection features ASUS has been adding across its OLED gaming monitor range.
Competitive gaming modes are included
The monitor is not limited to its native 26.5 inch display area.
ASUS includes a 24.5 inch screen simulation mode that lets competitive players use a smaller image area similar to dedicated esports monitors.
Alternative 4:3 resolutions are also available.
These options may appeal to players of older competitive titles or games where a narrower aspect ratio is preferred.
At 320Hz, the XG27ACDMSR sits below the fastest esports focused OLED displays, but it offers a balance between high refresh gaming and a sharper QHD resolution.
Connectivity covers HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort and USB C
The display includes DisplayPort 1.4 with Display Stream Compression, HDMI 2.1, and USB Type C with DisplayPort Alt Mode.
The USB C connection supports only 15W Power Delivery, so it is not designed to provide substantial charging power to gaming laptops.
That makes the port more useful for video connectivity and lower power devices than for a single cable notebook setup.
AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G Sync Compatible support are both included, allowing variable refresh rate operation with modern Radeon and GeForce graphics cards.
ASUS has not revealed how much the XG27ACDMSR will cost. The related 280Hz XG27ACDMS is currently listed at $649 in the US, so the new version is expected to sit higher in the range rather than replace it directly.
With 320Hz refresh, improved brightness, Tandem QD OLED technology, and the new BlackShield surface, the XG27ACDMSR is positioned as a higher specification option for players who want a fast 1440p OLED display without moving to a larger panel.
