AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition is back in stock, giving AM4 PC owners another chance to buy one of the most popular gaming processors of its generation without paying inflated reseller prices. The limited reissue carries the same core specifications as the original Ryzen 7 5800X3D, but includes a Carbice Ice Pad thermal pad in the box.
The processor is aimed mainly at people who already own an AM4 motherboard and DDR4 memory. Instead of replacing an entire PC platform, you can upgrade to an eight core gaming focused chip while keeping much of your current hardware.
That makes the Ryzen 7 5800X3D Anniversary Edition especially relevant at a time when DDR5 memory and storage prices remain high. Building a new AM5 system can cost far more than upgrading an existing AM4 machine, even though newer Ryzen processors offer better overall performance and newer platform features.
The Anniversary Edition has appeared at its suggested retail price of $349, while some reseller listings have reportedly pushed the same chip as high as $650. Buyers should be careful not to overpay simply because the processor was difficult to find for a period.
Ryzen 7 5800X3D Still Offers Strong Gaming Performance
The original Ryzen 7 5800X3D launched in 2022 and quickly became one of AMD’s strongest gaming CPUs. Its main advantage was 3D V Cache, which stacked extra cache memory directly onto the processor.

Why AMD Brought the Processor Back
AMD previously stopped producing the Ryzen 7 5800X3D after moving to newer Ryzen generations and second generation 3D V Cache technology. However, bringing the chip back reportedly required additional engineering work because the manufacturing process used for the original cache stacking design had changed.
The release is not designed to compete directly with newer models such as the Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Those processors use newer CPU architectures, newer versions of 3D V Cache, AM5 motherboards, and DDR5 memory.
Still, the older processor has a clear purpose. It gives existing AM4 owners a relatively straightforward route to stronger gaming performance without the cost of a complete platform replacement.
The Best Choice Depends on Your Current PC
The Ryzen 7 5800X3D Anniversary Edition makes the most sense if you already have a capable AM4 system. It can extend the life of an older motherboard and DDR4 memory kit while delivering a major improvement over many early Ryzen CPUs.
For a completely new PC build, AM5 remains the more future focused option. Newer X3D chips support DDR5, offer newer architectures, and give you a platform with a longer upgrade path.
However, for AM4 owners who missed the original Ryzen 7 5800X3D, this anniversary release could be one of the final chances to buy the processor at a normal retail price rather than relying on expensive reseller listings.
