Cold Iron Studios has officially revealed Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, with the sequel planned for release in summer 2026.
The first Aliens: Fireteam Elite launched in 2021 as a co op third person shooter built around fighting waves of Xenomorphs. It had a strong idea, but the final game received mixed reactions. Many players liked parts of the action and atmosphere, but the game also left room for improvement.
The sequel now gives Cold Iron a chance to build on that foundation.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 was shown with a new trailer that starts with a short cinematic scene before moving into gameplay. The footage shows familiar co op shooting, heavy Xenomorph pressure, and squads fighting through dangerous environments filled with alien threats.
One of the biggest changes is the move from three player co op to four player co op. That should make missions feel larger and more intense, especially since the enemies are being described as smarter and more aggressive. Cold Iron says the Xenomorphs will adapt to player tactics, which could make fights less predictable than before.

The sequel will also include stronger weapon customization and more buildcrafting options. That should give players more control over how their marine fits into a squad, whether they want to focus on damage, support, crowd control, or survivability.
Another important upgrade is cross platform co op at launch. That means players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S should be able to team up from day one.

Cold Iron had already moved away from major new content for the first game in 2023, so the sequel has been in full development for some time. A leak in 2024 had already pointed to the project, but this is the first official look at what the studio has been building.
The main question is how much the sequel improves on the original. Aliens: Fireteam Elite had potential, but it needed stronger mission variety, better progression, and more depth to keep players invested. With four player co op, smarter enemies, cross play, and deeper builds, the sequel is clearly trying to answer some of those concerns.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 will arrive sometime in summer 2026. If Cold Iron can make the combat sharper and the co op systems more flexible, this could be the stronger Xenomorph hunting game fans wanted the first time.
