Acer’s Aspire Go 15 becomes the first Snapdragon C laptop, but key details are still missing

Acer has announced the Aspire Go 15 as the first laptop powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon C processor, giving the affordable Windows laptop market its first look at the chip. The device is meant to target entry level buyers, but several important details are still missing, including price, launch date, display resolution, and real performance figures.

Qualcomm introduced Snapdragon C as a low cost processor for Windows 11 laptops, with systems expected to start around $300. That positioning makes it important because affordable Windows laptops have often struggled with weak performance, poor battery life, or cheap displays. If Snapdragon C can offer better efficiency at a low price, it could make budget Windows machines more competitive.

The timing also matters because Apple recently pushed into cheaper laptop territory with the $599 MacBook Neo. That move has put pressure on Windows PC makers to offer stronger low cost options. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon C, along with Intel’s upcoming affordable chips, appears to be part of that response.

The Aspire Go 15 sounds like a budget laptop, but Acer has not shared enough to judge it yet

Acer has confirmed only a few specifications for the Aspire Go 15. The laptop will offer up to 8GB of memory and 512GB of storage. It will also include a 15.6 inch display, dual full function USB Type C ports, and HDMI. However, Acer has not confirmed the screen resolution, exact port standards, battery size, weight, or starting price.

That makes the announcement feel incomplete. A $300 laptop with acceptable performance and strong battery life would be interesting. A more expensive model with only 8GB of RAM could be harder to recommend, especially as Windows 11 and modern apps continue to demand more memory.

The biggest mystery remains Snapdragon C itself. Qualcomm has said the chip will power affordable PCs and offer all day battery life, but it has not shared benchmark results or detailed technical specifications. The company has also confirmed that Snapdragon C does not use Oryon cores, which are the custom CPU cores found in Qualcomm’s higher end Snapdragon X chips.

That means buyers should wait before assuming Snapdragon C will deliver the same kind of performance as premium Arm based Windows laptops. This chip is clearly aimed at affordability first. The real question is whether it can offer enough speed for browsing, schoolwork, streaming, video calls, Office apps, and light multitasking without feeling slow.
