I agree with everything that you have said. Windows 11 is a retrograde step in many respects, especially the task bar features, and yet Windows 11 did not fix bugs in Windows 10, such as the impermanence of resetting the “open with” metadata field associated with specific file types. Regarding the task bar, the productivity loss of not being able add the Desktop Toolbar to the task bar is enormous. It used to be a great way to quickly open an application program or file left on the desktop (to avoid the taskbar getting too full), of quickly finding a folder by moving the mouse only without lots of clicking, and of finding network locations without opening My Computer in a file explorer window and clicking on network locations, etc. It is very frustrating that such basic usability has been lost.

I can’t say it better than Jeff here above

I have just put Windows 11 on my 14 inch Asus laptop. I have put quick launch back on, made my task bar larger and my icons smaller. I can also drag my icons to my task bar. I’ve also got back my Windows Start menu like it used to be when we had Windows 7. These are quite simple things to do to get Windows 11 as you had it before.

I have no trouble with the Win 11 task bar. I bought and installed Start11 from Stardock and it allows me to fix most of those “problems”. It also allows me to use a better Start menu. As an added bonus since 22H2 Start11 has a menu setting to put seconds back on the notification area clock. BTW I prefer my apps grouped.

I can move the icons on my Win11 taskbar just fine – except the last one. This article is both incorrect and no help to me.

Did you actually read our article? We never said that you can’t move icons on the Windows 11 taskbar.

I am not able to give feedback for any of the issues. The feedback link opens in a separate webpage with a button called ‘Feedback hub’, but clicking that opens yet another blank page and that’s all.

BTW, I agree that all the issues listed here are annoying and it is surprising that MS didn’t had these in the beginning and even till now…very strange!
