Windows 10 Spring Creators Update has proved to be quite controversial. It was supposed to be available on April 10th, 2018. But it was not, and Microsoft did not explain why. Then, it was clear that a last-minute bug caused the delay, but no one knew exactly what the bug was, when it was going to be fixed and when the new update was going to launch. What can we conclude from the little that was communicated by Microsoft? First of all, the launch date for this update is peculiar. Microsoft never released a major update for Windows 10 on a Monday, on the last day of a month. It used to launch them on Tuesdays, at a date that was communicated with a bit more notice. Most probably they chose a Monday, because it is the last day of April, and they would have caused themselves lots of backlash in the press for launching an update called April Update in May. This also means that the bug they encountered was serious, and it took a bit of fixing. Microsoft was forced to restart the shipping process, which delayed the launch by a few weeks. Another obvious conclusion is that Microsoft had issues with their naming for major Windows 10 updates. Frankly, they got boring fast. Nobody was excited to hear about Creators Update, followed by Fall Creators Update and then Spring Creators Update. Microsoft could have done better than that. Most probably, from now on, we will get dull and predictable names like April 2018 Update, October 2018 Update, April 2019 Update, and so on. There will be no more trying to be \"original,\" at least for a couple of upcoming updates. Again, we are not sure this is a wise choice on their part, but it is what it is.
