At the start of the new school and university year, many people update their devices. With the focus on laptops, phones, and tablets, network infrastructure is often overlooked, even though it is the foundation of any digital experience. This year, ASUS has expanded its portfolio with many Wi-Fi 7 routers and mesh systems, a standard that is now available for all types of users and budgets. If you want to benefit from a high-quality Wi-Fi connection that can handle online classes, remote work, online gaming, and watching your favorite Netflix series in 4K resolution, I have a few recommendations for the best models you can get from ASUS: ASUS wireless routers with Wi-Fi 7 Wi-Fi 7 has become a mature standard for wireless networks, not just available on super expensive routers and mesh systems anymore. Now, there\'s a wide range of Wi-Fi 7 options that offer great coverage, updated and powerful hardware, capable of handling a growing number of devices connected at the same time. From the variety of models available, I\'ve analyzed ASUS\'s portfolio with the best routers for the “2025 Back to School” season: ASUS RT-BE50: Affordable Wi-Fi 7 router This model ticks all the essential boxes for a family living in a one-bedroom apartment. It has a powerful processor that can handle more connected devices than similarly priced Wi-Fi 6 routers, includes useful parental control features, lower latency for Wi-Fi connections, and faster speeds than Wi-Fi 6 routers in the same price range. ASUS RT-BE50 If you\'re interested in this model, you can find more information on the product’s page. ASUS TUF Gaming BE6500: Wi-Fi 7 for larger homes If you have a two-bedroom apartment or a similar-sized house, you need a slightly more powerful router that can provide Wi-Fi coverage over a larger area. One model I recommend is the ASUS TUF Gaming BE6500. It has a solid construction with an advanced cooling system that provides stable operation even in more difficult thermal conditions. The router can make full use of ultra-fast 1 and 2.5 Gbps internet connections, offering many useful features for gaming enthusiasts who want a lag-free and uninterrupted gaming experience. ASUS TUF-BE6500 The ASUS TUF-BE6500 also includes an advanced security solution, useful parental controls, and the ability to create a mesh Wi-Fi system using other ASUS routers. ASUS RT-BE92U: The router for smart homes and offices In the review I published at the beginning of the year, I showed how the ASUS RT-BE92U impressed me with its performance on the 2.4 GHz wireless band, which makes it a great choice for wireless networks with lots of IoT devices. One of its major advantages is that all LAN ports operate at 2.5 Gbps, allowing you to create an ultra-fast network for PCs, consoles, or NAS systems. This model offers balanced performance on the 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands and can successfully use 2.5 Gbps internet connections. It is an excellent choice for homes or businesses with many IoT devices that want to future-proof their network. ASUS RT-BE92U ASUS ROG STRIX GS-BE18000: Ultimate gaming and speed! The ASUS ROG STRIX GS-BE18000 is one of the few routers I recently tested that impressed me in many ways. It\'s a very advanced model, designed for gaming enthusiasts, but it can also work just as well in a small business office. It comes with all the advanced features offered by ASUS, from tools to minimize gaming latency to the ability to function as a VPN server or associate devices on the network with different VPN tunnels. It is a tri-band wireless router that can take full advantage of the improvements introduced by the Wi-Fi 7 standard. As a result, in my tests, it offered some of the highest transfer speeds I have ever measured. ASUS ROG STRIX GS-BE18000 I encourage you to read my review of this model and visit its product page for more information. TIP: Before proceeding, please note that regardless of the router you choose, all recommended models are ASUS expandable routers. These make it easy to increase your network coverage area whenever you want (now or later) by purchasing another ASUS router or using an older one you already have. ASUS ZenWiFi mesh systems with Wi-Fi 7 Mesh Wi-Fi systems are suitable for people living in large apartments, as well as buildings like houses or offices with multiple floors. They are easy to install and provide Wi-Fi coverage over a larger area than a router. ASUS has several interesting Wi-Fi 7 models, with prices to suit all budgets and needs. Here are my recommendations for the “2025 Back to School” season: ASUS ZenWiFi BD4: Wi-Fi 7 mesh systems for an affordable price It’s one of the most affordable Wi-Fi 7 mesh solutions from ASUS, available in kits with one, two, or three stations, depending on the size of the space where you need Wi-Fi. For a studio or a one-bedroom apartment, a single station should be enough. For larger apartments, the two-station kit should be plenty, while one or two-story houses would benefit from the three-station kit. ASUS ZenWiFi BD4 offers the classic firmware created by ASUS for all its network products, along with a hardware configuration that can handle 1 Gbps and even 2.5 Gbps internet connections. The only limitation to keep in mind is that each station has only one LAN port on the back, alongside the WAN port. ASUS ZenWiFi BD4 For more information, visit this product’s webpage: ASUS ZenWiFi BD4. ASUS ZenWiFi BT10: Stable Wi-Fi 7 connectivity ASUS ZenWiFi BT10 is a tri-band wireless mesh Wi-Fi solution that can take advantage of the 6 GHz band to provide a backhaul connection for all the stations you use. This way, you get the best possible speed without interference from other networks in your area. It\'s a premium solution that can use internet connections of up to 10 Gbps, offers all the improvements introduced by the Wi-Fi 7 standard, and all the advanced tools and features of ASUS firmware. ASUS ZenWiFi BT10 ASUS ZenWiFi BQ16: The most powerful Wi-Fi 7 mesh? The ASUS ZenWiFi BQ16 is the most powerful mesh system I\'ve tested so far. It has a sleek design, as well as top-of-the-line hardware and performance, especially on the 5 GHz and 6 GHz wireless frequency bands, where it reached speeds well over 1.5 Gbps. This model can easily handle 2.5 Gbps or 10 Gbps internet connections. If you are passionate about technology and want to enjoy all the benefits of the Wi-Fi 7 standard, if your family needs fast Wi-Fi with reliable parental controls, or if you are a business owner who needs a secure, low-latency network, the ASUS ZenWiFi BQ16 is one of the best choices out there.
