Thanks for the detailed information about the subject. I happened to explore about this article because I read somewhere that the smartphone I am using is 2.5 D Corning Gorilla Glass.
But, now I doubt.. whether its a Corning Gorilla or just a simple ordinary 2.5 D glass.

I recently bought Oneplus 6 which contains both 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 combined… can you explain how this new Glass works? is it as strong as Groilla Glass 5 by being 2.5D curved from Corner ?

I’m thinking if buying the new Metro PCS LG Stylo 4 with 2.5 D glass – is it also Gorilla Glass ?

Pratik

The Gorilla glass ratings don’t work the way you have claimed in this article. The higher the number does not mean it is better. It depends on the application, with some being more scratch resistant and others more shatter proof.

MY One Plus 6T has 2.5D Corning® Gorilla® Glass 6. I can only assume it’s the latest (strongest?) with the curved edges.

I was wondering what type of screen glass zenfone max pro m1 holds. It is not stated in corning’s list.

See https://youtu.be/wLmiWPHPqhU
Most probably it is Gorilla Glass 6, like on the previous model.

Theo

Same thing for the standard OnePlus 7, the specs mention 2.5D Gorilla Glass. So how do we know what that means?

Just read our tutorial to understand what 2.5D Glass is.

I saw your article about 2.5D glass. To be clear, 2.5D refers to the shape of the cover glass part which is laminated to the top of the display assembly you touch when you interact with your device. There are generally 3 different shapes, i.e. 2D, 2.5D and 3D. This has nothing to do with the actual base glass composition. Gorilla Glass is commonly used to produce all 3 shapes.

That’s correct
