I’m trying to follow directions, but when I try to open the Google drive registration file, I have no option to open it with notebook, it just does the registry thing.

I found that “TargetFolderPath” must be “G:\\My Drive” rather than “G:\\Google Drive” in order for the separate Navigation Panel entry to work on my system. This is no doubt because “My Drive” is the top level folder name on my Google Drive.

My wife and i have 2 Google email accounts and one home pc.

How do we mount only my pc folders on my drive and my wife’s pc folders on her different drive.
    Thanks.

Hi, if both of you have your own user account in Windows, you should be able to do it using the same steps in this guide for each one of you.

    Wow….
    I did it!!!
Thanks so much. Your guidance was very helpful. God bless you for sharing

    Should be: “TargetFolderPath”=”C:\\Users\\UserName\\My Drive”

I’m using 51.0.14.0 version of Google Drive. I’m not sure if I did anything wrong, but I found that the new navigation bar link doesn’t work with the ..\Instance\InitPropertyBag] “TargetFolderPath”=”H:\\My Drive” link in the registry. (On my system, Google Virtual Drive is moved to H: because G: is in use.)

I get the error: H:\My Drive is unavailable.

It works if I change the path to:
    “TargetFolderPath”=”C:\\Users\\\\My Drive”

Can someone please tell me how to stop Google drive adding itself to Quick Access. I removed it many times, but after some time it pops up there again (even without reboots). I don’t need it there, i don’t want it there. Same for virtual drive in explorer – is there a way to disable it? I have 8 drives already, i don’t need another one just for Google, one simple folder on my PC is more than enough…

    • Codrut Neagu says:

Hi! I didn’t find a way to do that, except for uninstalling Google Drive from your PC altogether.

      • Alonso says:

Hello. I hope google adds more options to enable/disable features you don’t need in the near future. But sadly they became one of those “we know better what you need” companies long time ago 🙁

  • Stratium says:

Google Drive for Desktop users can instead use this registry file instead, forked from the original: https://github.com/Stratium/Google-Drive-Integration

  • Brian says:

It looks like Google has removed this function, as the “Backup & Sync” app is no longer functional. I believe they are using the ‘Google Drive for Desktop’ app to replace using Google drive in File Explorer. Which is super frustrating because now I can’t save anything to Google drive unless I save it on my computer first.
    Can anyone else confirm this??

This is a great page and the documentation is amazing.

My question is how do I view Google Drive folders that were “shared with me”? I can’t see those in my Explorer view.

  • VladimirCZ says:

In most of linux distros you have Gnome online accounts and you can mount and use Google “My drive” as if it were some LAN folder. I do not know why nobody still implemented this under Windows. The solution mentioned in the article means in fact: “How to sync content of your local folders with Google drive”, which means the folders will occupy place on your local drives, like MS Onedrive does and that is a half cloud and a half non – cloud solution which is not good if you have a portable device with limited disk capacity.

I do not want to install google software on my device, I want to manipulate google drive as if it were windows explorer.
