A nice review that describes a lot of product details, but then the verdict and final rating seem a bit unfair.

It’s basically saying “There you have an awesome sports car that’s super fun driving, but some users might not like it because it misses all the bloat and extras that a family van comes with.”. Yeah.. anyone surprised really?

After all, most important for a security software is to keep you safe, which Emsisoft obviously perfectly does. So why rate if 3 out of 5 only? Don’t compare apples with bananas please.

I agree with Christian’s comment:
The final rating looks unduly harsh, I expected a 4/5
Also it might be a good idea to ask Emisoft for their comments on your tests?

Read our Pros and Cons section to understand things better. We would have given it a 3,5 out of 5 but we don’t yet have a rating system with more granular grades.

I’ve been using Emsisoft Antimalware for a couple of years. It provides good protection against anything that will infect your computer. The web shield is not as good about warning you about “bad” web sites as shields from the larger antivirus companies, but the behavior blocker is first rate at blocking malicious files and “strange” files (you can whitelist/exclude an occasional false positive BB detection). Emsisoft used to have a firewall, but it has been discontinued because the standard firewall that comes with Windows since Windows 7 is very good. As extra protection, Emsisoft beefs up the Windows firewall a bit to replace their own firewall.

Emsisoft is a small company based in New Zealand, so there are no “political”/security problems in using it like there may be from AVs located in Russia/China/etc..
