I downloaded this and it captures a screenshot of both my screens and prints it immediately in portrait orientation without a box popping up giving me any options. I’d prefer to be able to print a section of one screen rather than both screens, or at least have both screens print in landscape so I can see them. How can I get the box to pop up before it prints?

You can’t. But you can adjust the default settings of your printer, before using this script. If you want to manually set everything, simply open the image, press CTRL + P on your keyboard, set how you want to print it, and you’re done.

I’ve been using the free version of PicPick (currently at 7.0.1) for a long time to prt sc as well as its many other options when appropriate. The paid version is only required for users as defined at its website and for a very limited time is discounted.

Some of its function can be also done by other programs you already have installed but the PicPick implementation may be preferable for your circumstance.

Fantastic article. I’ve been waiting decades for another simple solution to this problem.
I have been using SnagIt Ver 3.1 dating from approx 1994 for this immediate screen to printer function on all versions of Windows through Win10,
but I live in fear that someday it will stop working. I consider all the solutions that use the scratchpad or other intermediate process as “monkey motion” and a total and utter waste of time.

Now if the same function could be available on the Mac it might make it a worthwhile computer for serious work. Without this function I consider Mac as toys and limit my use of them as much as possible.

Another way, IF you use dropbox, in your dropbox preferences, select the “share screenshots to dropbox”. When you use PRINTSCREEN only (Not windows printscreen), immediately a dialogue box comes up saying it’s share to dropbox. Click on the immediately and the pic comes up including a printer icon. Plus an advantage to this (besides ability to share screenshots) is you don’t have to hunt for the folder.

This article is FANTASTIC. This is a CRITICAL function to using a personal computer in my opinion. I’ve not been able to do this in Windows without using SnagIt version 3.1 from 1997 or so. Now I don’t need to rely on an antique DOS program.

Now if someone could do this for Mac OS X I’d be completely satisfied.

I have attempted to use your app: “https://1drv.ms/u/s!AslOfY4IzwvrvOgM136WPX9_aBniBw?e=3jNTdE” and get the following message each time: “This item might not exist or is no longer available”. What’s up?
