At today\'s #MicrosoftEvent in New York, Microsoft played a clip that gave a very brief recap of the most important new features that are coming to Windows 10. In that clip, they showed for just one second, a screenshot of the upcoming Windows Defender, that will be included in Windows 10 Creators Update. From that screenshot alone, we were able to deduce that major improvements are coming to this old and rather dated security app. Here\'s a list of what\'s next for Windows Defender: Windows Defender, Windows 10 Creators Update Windows Defender gets a touch based interface Windows Defender looks like it is going to become a universal Windows app (UWP) , with a responsive touch based user interface, that works well for tablets and all-in-ones. Most probably the user interface will evolve a lot in the final product but we like what we see so far. Windows Defender gets integrated with the Windows Firewall, Family Safety and other tools It also looks like Windows Defender will be integrated with the Windows Firewall, Family Safety, as well as some unknown computer performance & health related tools. Will it be integrated with the existing Performance Monitor or with other, newer tools that will also get a touch-based interface? We would sure love to know. Windows Defender becomes a one-stop shop for controlling the security of your Windows 10 devices What is evident from the same screenshot is that Windows Defender will become a one-stop shop for managing and controlling the security of your Windows 10 device. We believe that this is a welcome step in the right direction and that Microsoft should have been doing that for a long time now. Today, security in Windows 10 is far behind the times and security tools are not very usable on devices with touch. Windows Defender will offer regular health and security reports In the same screenshot we noticed a line that says \"Last health report on…\". Since Microsoft already offers enhanced reports for Windows Defender , in Windows 10 Anniversary Update, it\'s a natural evolution to make things even better by offering system health reports too. What\'s next for security in Windows 10 Creators Update? This screenshot is the only thing we have in terms of information at the moment. What else is coming in terms of security improvements for Windows 10 Creatores Update, we don\'t yet know. If you have other information, don\'t hesitate to comment below. Personally, I would love to see a touch-friendly universal Windows app for the Windows Firewall but that\'s only wishful thinking on my part.
