Same problem here. I can’t setup the function keys and “the center” doesn’t find the keyboard.
I called microsoft support and they said to download the win 8 driver.
Will try later, but i don’t believe it’ll work.
Nice review, and I am glad I am not the only one who can’t find their shiny new keyboard on Microsoft’s shiny new Mouse and Keyboard Centre software thingy.
It still works, which is nice, and has a decently positive keypress action for a membrane-based keyboard.
I have this keyboard for use with my laptop. Is it possible to temporarily disable the keyboard — but not the mouse — and go back to using the keyboard on my laptop?
Great keyboard, light to the touch, good feedback to the fingers, comfortable shape. A pity the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Centre software doesn’t support it as you get no screen display showing whether capslock, etc. are on or not – I’ve written my own simple routine to do this but still cannot detect whether the little toggle switch is on or not. On other problem, once you’ve got used to the slightly unusual spacing (I touch type), switching back to a conventional keyboard is a real problem. 9 out of 10
The Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center does put up a small notice on my screen for things like Caps Lock. It’s not very visible, but usually shows up in the lower right corner of the screen.
I agree with you about not being able to switch back to a conventional keyboard easily. 🙂

Just as I thought, it didn’t

Try typing on your laptop’s keyboard with this keyboard attached. It might work just fine.

Great review of the keyboard! Thank you! I feel it will be easy for me to upgrade to this keyboard from Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000.
I am very glad you liked the review! If you have a good (or bad) experience with the keyboard I hope you’ll tell us about it.
