“In 2015, it was clear that Microsoft was focused on promoting their Windows 10 operating system. ”
Surely Windows 8 was the real attempt to unify Phone and PC interfaces? It didn’t turn out as hoped as it went too far in the direction of touch and phone type interface at the expense of the desktop. Windows 10 is a more balanced approach and if they succeed in unifying mobile and desktop may well be the boost Windows on mobile needs.
Windows 8 was not the real attempt to unify Phone and PC interfaces. It was only the first step. Windows 10 is the first unified operating system. That's why they no longer use Windows Phone as the name for the phone operating system. It's Windows 10 on PCs, tablets, phones, consoles, etc.
