Maybe it’s me. Maybe I exist in a diabetes silo. But it seems to me the most hyped about feature of this watch was the groundbreaking hyperglycaemia alert that would be invaluable to Type II diabetics. And sure, there was uncertainty about that being available in the European for at least a year, if ever.

But it seems to me that at least ONE of these reviewers who’ve got their hands on one should be able to definitively answer THAT question. And the follow-up question about why NO reviewer has commented on this USP.

Certainly googling something like “huawei watch 4 glucose” should provide enough info, but I’ll give you the Forbes link, as Forbes is a reputable source: https://www.forbes.com/sites/andrewwilliams/2023/05/18/industry-first-watch-with-blood-sugar-measurement-announced-by-huawei/ (“Industry First” Watch With Blood Sugar Monitor Announced By Huawei).

I’ll throw in Tom’s Guide’s take on it too: https://www.tomsguide.com/news/huawei-watch-4-has-a-health-feature-even-the-apple-watch-cant-offer-but-theres-a-catch (Huawei Watch 4 has a health feature even the Apple Watch can’t offer — but there’s a catch)

Actually, Ciprian, an answer to my question has emerged. It is as I feared, the feature Huawei boasted about is absent from the European release and Huawei doesn’t like to talk about that:

“However, behind this launch in Europe (the watch also reaches other countries besides Spain) there is also a great absence. We talk about the new hyperglycemia risk feature, a measurement based on statistics and the analysis of other types of values that determines if we are at risk of suffering from hyperglycemia.

To get it, the watch analyzes 10 different indicators in 60 seconds, and checks the results against a database of previous values. It is therefore not a blood sugar measurement as you might imagine, so it does not provide precise values. Still, this function is only available in China, probably because it is the first place where the manufacturer will do its tests and where they have possibly been able to get the license to use it more quickly.

At the moment we do not know if the European version will get this same function later with a simple update (in theory the manufacturer could do it without problems), so we will be attentive to future announcements from the manufacturer to clear up doubts.”

Huawei Watches made by Huawei are great but don’t be duped into buying the “For Huawei Watch 4 Pro Smartwatch” as I did from Kavsumi on AliExpress.
It lasted 10 days at which time I returned it to Kavsumi using the address supplied by AliExpress, never to heard about or from again.
I wasted AUD$70 plus another AUD$34 to airfrieght it back to China. I should have known better when they did advertise as “For Huawei” which is misleading or really dishonest.
KAVSUMI is brand to stay away from.
