My boyfriend & I recently bought 2 laptops w/Windows 8.1. We experimented w/Homegroup and was connected for a couple of days until I noticed in File Explorer he was no longer listed under Network and I was not listed on his computer. I didn’t know what to do but I did go to “Change what I am sharing” and when I clicked Finished, this warning message came up “Homegroup is currently sharing libraries on this computer. Some options will be unavailable. Until sharing completes, please do not shut down or restart computer.” That was a week ago and of course, I have turned off my computer. We cannot get connected again. We left homegroup and tried to reconnect to no avail plus the computer still seems to be sharing libraries because I still get the warning message whether I am connected or not. I have searched the internet and have been unable to find anything that compares to the problem I have. I desperately need the solution to this problem and I am hoping you have it. I await all comments. Thank you, Barbara Davis

Hi, I’ve tried setting all to share files and turned all passwords off, but I still cannot connect my Win 10 Home pc to my other one without it asking a pw. Strangely enough the other pc, Win 10 Pro can connect and see my public folders.

At last a common sense approach to networking
Thank you

Ciprian, this was good information in Nov 2016 but unfortunately it doesn’t work today. I think the recent Creator Update broke my Network.
I have a workgroup with Win1064 and Win1032. Up until the Creator Update it worked fine. Everybody could all shares on both machines.
With the update, Win1064 can still see all shares, on both machines. Go to Win1032, bad news. The Network folder on the 32bit machine is empty. Doesn’t show it’s own shares nor the 64bit shares on Win1064.
I can move files from Win1064 to Win1032 but from Win1032, I don’t see any shares.
There are multiple posts on the web from others with the same problem and many solutions offered up. I haven’t been able to make any of them work.
My question is Sir….., have you seen anything, heard anything, read anything, or even a rumor of a solution to this problem???
It really isn’t an emergency, in my case, because the 32bit machine is a backup/test machine and only used occasionally……….. but it’s bugging the hell out of me !!!
Got any ideas ???
Tnx

Tim
