I found that if you edit the properties of the Shortcut and fill in the “comment” field the comment displays as the name of the shortcut in the WinX menu. This can be changed before the hash or later on, but as with creating the shortcut windows explorer.exe must be restarted in Task Manager for the change to take a affect, or a reboot will do it as well.
I want to know how to do this WITHOUT downloading a 3rd party tool. There are security risks with downloading any application. And I want a better understanding of how the OS works. Plus relying on someone else’s program to do it just feels like cheating.
