Found this article very helpful, and it pretty much shows the same methods as other articles/guides. For laymen readers, the article misses on which IP to copy for which purpose.

You forgot to mention howto from Windows ME and downwards…
So I help you…
Windows 98 MSDos 7.1
ipconfig or ipconfig /all
or start->run[“winipcfg”] and select the correct adapter in the dropdown list
(and yes a few still use Win9x based OS – but not for mainstream computing)

C:> wmic nicconfig where servicename=”e1dexpress” get ipaddress

Those are ‘internal’ IP addresses. If you need your ‘external’ IP for LAN parties or what not just type what is my IP address in your browser
