I must update my request for information because of something I just noticed: when clicking in the clock corner, a window comes up with the month’s calendar, side by side with an icon of a working clock. That’s fine. On permanent display there is the written date. Above the date, there should be a permanent time: that is what is lacking. So again, how do I manage to inscribe the time in that corner for good?

No problem with date display. However, clock time refuses to show no matter what I do (all the steps). Am changing from 12 hour display to 24 hours (12 hr showed all right before my attempts to change). Clock on the Date and Time window shows 24 hours correctly but that’s where my change stays, not in taskbar corner.
That’s because the clock might not be enabled to show up in the notification area.

the “How to turn system icons on or off” section and enable the Clock system icon.
