There’s a reason why Inkscape isn’t as well known as some of the others: it sucks.

  • Nelson says:

Well, I tried GIMP, and it was not user-friendly. So, I uninstalled GIMP.

The problem with Paint was that it was very easy to use, but you can’t use it on the internet: the text is too fuzzy and blurry.,

I just wonder what .icrosoft thinks about. In my opinion, if they continue disregarding their customers opinion, they about to loose most of them; for example, I already started to look into an alternative OS, computer, etc (like Apple)

back in the 90’s…i had an old macintosh and i found its image manipulation program to be incredible for my needs…anybody feel familiar enough to tell me the program’s name, is it still in use and/or production and where I can find it?

Perhaps you are referring to MacPaint?
Search on “MacPaint X” and there’s a free download at cnet.

A true alternative to Microsoft Paint would be equally minimalist rather than the applications aimed at advanced users shown in this article. About the only useful entry level paint program not requiring .NET is called Lazpaint.

YES! Why do people who make these programs not understand this!?! I don’t want anything complicated, I am not photoshopping turds to get them to look like princesses, I am using a damn mouse to draw with, I want simple tools to mark up a picture and communicate something to someone. I don’t need 50 different kinds of charcoal pencils or watercolours or any of that. I can’t draw a straight line to save my life. I just want something that I can put circles and arrows and text, have it come out straight and be able to move the circles and arrows and text if I change my mind/my stupid hand moved or it’s a tuesday and just because.

It’s kinda hard to tell if it’s a good software if all the art was done by a five year old having a panic attack.

    Thank God for Norton.

  • Marth says:

As both a Paint and Photoshop user, I would say these aren’t at all alternatives to Paint. The selling point of Paint is that it’s lightweight and has a minimal list of functions that can be used to quickly modify images in cases where Photoshop would be overkill.

there’s no such app like paint… iv’e tried but disappointed….. I’m still working on my other laptop just to use paint.

  • scott says:

I don’t know if one already exists but I’d like to see a “paint style” program set up so that the menu bar’s default setting shows everything a newbie would use.Clicking a button would then reveal a slightly more complicated hidden menu suitable for someone with moderate skills. Lastly a 3rd level would reveal all the options an actual professional would ever need.

Hello, everyone! We checked the apps and all of them are safe to use. Make sure you’re accessing the right download link. Thank you!

    • Dave says:

      Thanks Maria. Will do!!

    • Jaws1387 says:

The first one, My Paint, links to a worthless page that tells you your computers is infected. If they’re safe, why am I redirected to a site that might infect my computer? Bull.

  • Dave says:

Flash Gordin, Im glad that you made mention of that!
I was going to download one of these but now I must research all of those!

  • Flash Gordin says:

You do realize that some of these downloads contain Trojans. Take caution when using these. Thank God for Norton.. smh

    • Ciprian Adrian Rusen says:

Which downloads triggered alerts for trojans? We would like to double check. Thanks for the notice.

    • Dave_B says:

Always have tools ro check , like Virustotal.com , superantispyware, malwarebytes, a decent AV Program , adwcleaner . and there are a few more but they are the most used ones.
