I have done something to my Windows Live Photo Gallery that I cannot figure out how to undo. I was tagging people in photos and suddenly all pictures disappeared and now it says their are NO people found in my photos. I have tried going back to group tag and NOTHING is showing up anymore. What have I done and can I reset the ones that say “undetected” back to “detected”? The photos I have not tagged appear to be under the “undetected” group now.
Please, any help is greatly appreciated! I have spent many weeks tagging but have thousands more that I wanted to tag!

Nice post. Thank you for taking the time to publish this information very informative; so happy to be given a privilege to post a comment here.
Hi, I have just downloaded windows live photo gallery for windows 7, but I don’t have any ribbon interface or that any tool bar at all. I want to flag and rate my pics. Do you have to sign in to use live windows gallery.
thanks Denise
I could not find a definitive answer to this. You will need to sign in to your Microsoft account if you want to save your images on SkyDrive/OneDrive, so if you don’t normally sign in to your Microsoft account, give that a try. If that doesn’t help, I’d suggest uninstalling Photo Gallery and reinstalling it.

I have windows 7 and I can’t find the quick find function. I find this so complicated trying to organise photos when it was really simple on my old computer with some kodak software – I could just tag a whole heap of photos over many time periods and then find all the tagged photos and copy them to a disk for printing at the shop. Please help me to know how I can organise my tagged photos if I can’t find a quick find icon on my computer.

The options in Photo Gallery to find specific photos are next to worthless.
Each time I import photos, I list some of the items in that folder. Now, when I wish to find something specific, there is no way to find them. If there could only be a search bar, and type in one of those words, it would be great. Also if we had a search bar, we could enter the photo ID number, and pull up the needed photo.
The only other way I have found is to painstakingly go through each line and open that folder to see the photos.
When you have thousands of photos, you can understand why a search bar is needed. I don’t need flags, I don’t needs stars, etc. an utter waste.
If there is a way to find photos, I wish I knew. Or if someone could leave a message here.
