I’ve been using Dragon right from the start. The latest version is even better and runs rings around Microsoft’s updated version in Windows 8 Consumer Preview. I’ve tried one against the other and there’s no contest as far as I’m concerned. Dragon wins hands down. Though you have to purchase Dragon while Microsoft’s version is a freebie it is well worth spending the money if you are serious about using speech recognition. Dragon works well with Windows 8 too.

I agree with you 100% that Dragon is a far more sophisticated and versatile speech recognition app, right out of the box. Anyone who wants to use speech recognition a lot should definitely get it. But for casual use, the built-in app does well enough.

I’ve tried it out with both versions of Win 8 – Dev Prev and Consumer Prev and Dragon works fine. It adds another dimension to touch, mousing, and keyboarding!!

well actually for me I found that they both have there ups and downs, SR in windows works well for starting programs and navigation.
while I find Dragon picks up my words more accurately, which would make it perfect for Word or emails.
but Dragon’s price is a big turn off… like PS or Sony Vegas
there nice programs, but for home user use, cost way to much and makes it unattractive.

OH I forgot one small thing…
I think SR is easier to get started with, its more of open the box and start using it while the first time I used Dragon was a little more confusing, but still fun.

I bet the combination of Dragon, a tablet, and Win8 would be unbeatable.

Interesting views here! Do any of you folk using Windows 8 Speech Recognition know how you can perform additional training as training is the key o sound speech recognition. With Dragon there are ample opportunities to do this but where in Windows Speech Recognition do you go??

natural essential oil

Hey very nice blog!! Excellent.. Amazing.. It really is a great idea. Spice oil is really very useful in aromatherapy and to get relax and calm I must say that one should use it.
