No, you can’t remove Office. Default Windows Phone apps cannot be uninstalled. But if you don’t want to see its tile, you can unpin it from the Start screen.
Yes, supposedly by changing the date to 2115 then selecting amsterdam as your time zone. I wouldnt recommend it if it works as doing this can cause your system to destabilize, bricking the phone

Great tutorial. Hope you are open to constructive criticism 🙂 I would like to point out how I would have phrased a couple of sentences : on Windows 8, because it’s a platform. I would use ‘in’, when referring to Windows 7 itself. Then : “remove any apps”. The ‘s’ from apps is redundant. I would use “any apps” for example : I cannot download any apps. Meaning none. Other than the above, I liked the article.
I’m sorry but I do not understand your feedback very well. This is an article about Windows Phone 8, not Windows 8 or Windows 7. Where do you see references to Windows 7?
Is your feedback related to another article?

Assuming I have installed an app or game from phone memory. After uninstalling an app or game, does .xap file gets deleted or not from phone memory?
Yes it does. That’s why you have to redownload the app from the Store if you want to install it again.

i downloaded app, then i uninstalled it from the list. However the pinned tile remained on the start screen and app continued to work. Then i removed that tile also. That app still shows up when i do storage check. How to remove it? I have lumia 820 with ATT up to date
In Windows Phone 8.1, the games are listed in the Apps list, alongside all the apps that you have installed. If you press and hold on the name of the game you want to remove, you will see the Uninstall option.
This one wasn’t – a new game I istalled was; so it looks like the old games are still in “Games”; the new games end up in Apps.
However – I got it sorted; I had to go into the storage sense option, and that listed all apps and games along with the amount of disk space they use; and I was able to uninstall from there.
You could say that, but again, that is true for any mobile platform. There’s no easy way of removing bundled apps no matter if you use Windows Phone, iOS or Android.

I have installed viber from app store.. In app store viber app shows that is installed but in app list its not showing . Pls help to solve this. I’m using windows phone 8.1 .
I’ve had this problem too some time ago.
The idea is that if you have the app installed on an SD card, than you can remove the card, start the phone and install the app again.
If the app is installed directly on the phone, than I don’t know a solution, except returning your phone to its factory settings. And that’s too drastic.
Presuming it’s not a system problem in your case, do you have enough free memory on your phone?
Well, if you’re on Developer Preview, check for new updates. Yesterday a new update was released by Microsoft.
Otherwise, for the moment, the only solution to your problem is to do a hard reset.

I was installing an app – Piano. Tiles by umoni and my phone accidently fell during the installation. When I restarted my phone, I could not find the app in the app list, but the store thinks that I have it installed on my phone. So it just shows view and share option. I pressed view which just took me to the start screen. I even true to open it through cortan but it did not work. Is there any way to uninstall this app from my phone since I cannot access it anyway?
I even tried to install the app manually through .xap file but it says that it is already installed

Microsoft needs to give us a way to uninstall all Microsoft pre-installed apps period. In the last 2 updates, the Mail app has become unnecessary, as the stupid asses took away the option for deleted emails from your email server, that you deleted in the Mail app. Thus, we have to waste unnecessary time going to our email accounts in a web browser just to delete, what we already deleted in the Mail app. Totally idiotic on Microsoft’s part and non-productive in any way.

Further the tutorial is not working in my phone though I hold it for some time it will not show uninstall option. What next?

Your article is of no use to me. I have virtually no capacity left on my phone, and the bulky apps. (which I do NOT use or want) CANNOT apparently be uninstalled or transferred to my SD Card – e.g. Xbox, Films & TV, Groove Music, OneNote. Please help – there is nothing bulky left on my phone that I CAN uninstall.

Hmm. Just updated to Windows Phone 8.1 and there’s no “uninstall” option in the menu now – just “rate and review”.
In Windows Phone 8.1, the games are listed in the Apps list, alongside all the apps that you have installed. If you press and hold on the name of the game you want to remove, you will see the Uninstall option.

How do I get to the storage sense option? Thx!
Storage Sense is found in the Apps list. But only in Windows Phone 8.1.
Same here. The uninstall does not show. Really need to take off some of these apps.
thanks for this post – I was foolishly doing things the old way and now I know better. Thanks again for posting this!
We’re glad we could be of help!
Last sentence in the article should read:
Therefore you *can’t* easily remove apps you don’t use but are bundled with your smartphone.
You could say that, but again, that is true for any mobile platform. There’s no easy way of removing bundled apps no matter if you use Windows Phone, iOS or Android.

That’s Microsoft decided to block that app from being uninstalled. There is nothing you can do about it.
I forgot to say thanks for providing info for readers like myself. Thanks.
when i make the same procedure as shown a red note appear tell me advanced options and both of move and uninstall buttons are not active
