Win 10 is totally screwed on my Lumia 640 and the Windows Device Recovery Tool is as well. the “tool” detects my phone, but it won’t read the firmware and software information on my phone. I waited 4 hours with nothing but the stupid spinning circles! You tutorial told me this should have happened quickly.

Pls check your USB settings. Dont set to charge mode only.

This utility was successful in doing the back rev to 8.1. Now have my contacts list (from SIM) and sync with Yahoo . Had one driver error
message during the setup and had to replug the Lumia once to continue with
the process but no fatal errors. Thanks for the help.

Since the installation will happen once the tool completes downloading, i would like to know if we can disconnect the phone and connect it when the download is complete. I am going to do the recovery today ??

the procedure are good, but i have never been successful with it because it keeps failing when it come to downloading the software, am now frustrated with windows 10.

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. It worked just fine for me. I only found some truble at the point of identification of my phone from the recovery tool but by following the instructions of restarting the device, finally I made it. Thank you again.

Don’t know why people complained about 8.1, it’s a lot better than 10.

This what i was looking for since i have upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows.Windows 10 is not featured with the famous cortona. I am yet to roll back to wds. 8.1 and the instruction are very good surely must work out. Thanks.

Hated the Windows 10. Although it works fine on my laptop and I am more than happy with that, it is dreadful on my mobile. some Apps don’t work properly or will not open at all. I have been very unhappy with it and was delighted to find this download.

thanks for this provision, low ram of my phone so much burden to run to run win10.
I have rolled back to Windows 8.1 as I could not install Whatsap app on my Windows 10. However I still can not instal it on my phone due to useless Microsoft software. It will not install, same problem as with Windows 10. I get a message that my phone is not linked to Microsoft account. When I check my linked devises it shows my phone as linked. So I am saying googbuy to Windows phone, as I want to do what I want with it, not what Microsoft wants me to do.

the latest version of windows device recovery tool is 3.14.075 and your is 3.1.6 – where have you found this version, because I did everything step by step, but it just reinstall my windows 10 software and it did not downgraded it to windows 8..

Do I need to download my apps again or will they still be there. My banking app is no longer available and if I lose it in the rollback that will be a serious problem for me
Thanks for that – then there has to be another solution to preserve the Banking app. It is no longer available in the windows store… I will look for that then roll back windows.

You need to download your apps again.
