Believe it or not, I actually will miss the Windows DVD Maker. I didn’t hop to Windows 7 until last year, and only months later I was offered Windows 8 CP. In between, I burned about a dozen DVDs using the program and never had a problem with it. Since that time though I have not been able to find an easy or better program to use for burning DVDs that doesn’t cost a ridiculous amount of money. So, different tastes for different users I guess.

RIP Windows DVD Maker

Not sure if you believe me but you are the first to leave a positive comment about Windows DVD Maker on our website. There are some many people who complained about it… I was baffled.

I was actually unaware windows DVD maker even existed until I read this article .-.

@Jack – File Explorer now burns DVD’s easier and faster, and it also mounts DVD and ISO images, too.

@Ciprian – I have totally forgotten about DVD maker. You are the only author on this, or any other site who mentions it in an article or comments on it.

Hi James.

I am actually glad to be one of the few (or maybe the only) author who talks about this tool. It should testify to the quality of work we try to do here at 7 Tutorials.

Good list. I would extend the mention of “File History” to include “Refresh” and “RecImg.EXE” and “SlimImage” and even “Win7 Image Copy Tool” as the complete Windows 8 Backup toolset.

RecImg is a huge marketing MISS-take by MS. They pushed Refresh (a great, incomplete, feature), minimized mention that it wipes Desktop apps, and have totally not mentioned that RecImg can be used to update the image used by Refresh to include installed desktop applications.

Why would they NOT mention this crucial feature???
