I have an AT&T sony Xpiria X10 (love the android phone), It shows up as a device in WMP11 but not in WMP12 on my win & laptop. Audio files on the phone can be played as previews in windows explorer but if you try to open them in WMP you gat a file/path not found message. Any one know how to make it discoverable to WMP?

Has anyone seen a plugin that provides Media Player statistics? How many songs, albums, artists, etc?

DFX Audio Enhancer is a RIP OFF. Yes – When you turn it off, you music sounds like a wet blanket, but, uninstall it and your music will be crisp again (uninstall it with music playing and you will see what I mean)! They seem to purposely muffle your music so it sounds crap when off to make you think its doing something. Just use windows media player graphic equalizer for a much more compelling (and free) experience!

This is absolutely true, I just tried it. Uninstalling DFX instantly brought a lot of treble back as the music was playing, no restart even necessary… That’s outrageous.

Also, in the trial version they hold back the “3D Surround” option, this is not because it sounds so good, but because it’s such an annoying effect that it would only serve to make the product look worse.

About the MGTEK dopisp – Why would anyone use this crap? It’s a ripoff! The point of having it installed is to be able to use WMP with your iPod. If you use WMP (which is much better than iTunes) means that you don’t want to use iTunes and of course it means that you don’t want to have that piece of bloatware installed on you PC. If this german crap MGTEK needs iTunes to operate what’s the point of having it?

I agree, DFX sounds like shit with headphones, although it is a really useful plugin when used with an active external amplifier(speakers mode). Sounds amazing.
But don’t worry- there is a workaround for users of onboard audio. Just install SRS audio essentials, and use it anytime you want to hear music thru the headphones. Disable DFX at that time.
Just don’t use SRS for an active external amp, because then again, it sounds like shit.

  13. Paul Mann says:

anyone know any plugins which will allow my android phone to sync over wifi? already tried the likes of doubletwist etc, hopefully something that let wmp12 see the card as though it were plugged in via usb?

  14. Marson says:

Sorry, but all this plugins are superficial to me. How about something that gives proper support for flac files?

  15. Gaurav says:

    Nice post…
I never cared about using plugins in WMP but you made me.
Do you force yourself to write down exactly 7 points ? There could be more or less.
