1. Browse information about any movie you plan to watch
Let's say you plan to rent a DVD or go to the movies and you want information about a certain movie. You can quickly look it up, view the trailer, the rating, the cast and the plot. Also, you can read critics' and users' review s. Now, you can decide whether you want to watch that movie or search for another movie to watch instead.
2. Look up movie show times at local theaters near you
Unfortunately, this feature is available only for people living in France, US, Germany, UK and the USA. It allows you to view the newest movies of the week, along with the theaters near you where they are available.
Also, if you tab the theaters button, you can view the address along with a map, information and directions. This can be very useful if you're in a new town and you don't want to get lost on your way to the cinema.
3. Explore popular charts
If you want to explore the most popular charts, tap movies in the main menu of the app and then you'll have the opportunity to choose from several charts: MOVIEmeter, top 250, bottom 100 and best picture winners.
Also, you can easily display the best movies by genre. This way you will find the movies you want to watch faster.
Another popular chart is STARmeter which will display the most appreciated celebrities of the moment.
By tapping their name, you can read their bio, view the movies they are known for and other fun stuff like trivia or quotes.
4. Find all the celebrities born on a certain day
For this purpose there are two options: born today and born on day.
Tapping born today will obviously display all the celebrities born on the current day, along with their age.
The feature born on the day is also really easy to use: just set the date and tap the done button.
5. Randomly discover a movie or celebrity from the database
There is a fun and interesting feature of this app called surprise me. All you have to do is shake your smartphone and the IMDb app will display a random movie or a celebrity.
Once you find something interesting, you can tap the result for more details.
6. Find what's on TV tonight
If you tap the tv tonight option, the IMDb app will list all the shows available that night from 8 PM to 11:35 PM,, along with the TV station. Again, this is not available for all users, as the app only offers information for some of the best known TV stations in the location you choose.

What we don't like is that it doesn't offer the watchlist feature that is available on the website and you can't login to your IMDb app with your account. You can use it only as an anonymous user. Personally, I think that it is really important to keep track of the movies that you want to watch. The IMDb app is simple, easy to use and it has a nice design.
