I had a similar problem a few years ago. The mouse pointer would suddenly zoom across the screen. It was so annoying I was ready to return my squeaky new computer. Then, at the very last minute I changed my mouse pad.
Yes, the problem was a defective mouse pad. Or actually a reflective, pebbly surface. The “free” mousepad that came with with the computer had a pebbled surface that when the laser in the mouse hit it just right reflected the beam and sent the pointer shooting across the screen.
Using the ratty old fabric covered mouse pad fixed the problem instantly.
Is it possible to separate the 2 screens with a space in between, so it takes the mouse a little more effort to jump between screens in the middle? I’ve been having trouble clicking in the scroll bar with the mouse jumping screens.

Just use CTRL-F4 to close the app instead of clicking the top right corner

Found this and thought i would share. Its easy to drag windows to the edge to fill half the screen, but if you are using multiple monitors there isn’t an edge in between. BUT, there are still corners that will grab your mouse when you drag a window. If you drag it to the inside corner, if will fill 25%. BUT if you drag to the corner (to catch the mouse) then pull down just a bit, it will fill the window 50%.
This is an awesome way to quickly place windows using the mouse on the inside edges of multi-monitor setups.

There is a program out there that will prevent this little problem. Its called Mouse Trapper. I really like it. You can get it here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Mouse-Trapper.shtml
